PE and School Sport
During the summer term we target those children who cannot swim the National Curriculum measure of 25m. We start with year 6 and then move to year 5. During the academic year 2018-2019, 85% of all year 6 and 5 children could swim 25m and so we offered swimming to non-swimmers in year 4. The strokes taught are front crawl and backstroke.
All key stage two children take part in drowning prevention week. In the water they are taught the HELP position, treading water, jump and swim.
College Street deliver an annual water safety assembly for foundation stage children to year 6.
Our Under-10 and Under-11 football teams play league and cup matches against other Nottingham schools.
Each year we hold a Sports Day.
At Key Stage 1, children participate in a range of potted sports followed by running races.
At Key Stage 2, children undertake a range of sporting activities in mixed year teams. This competition is then followed by running races, which produce gold, silver and bronze medallists in each year group.
During the school year, children in Years 1 to 5 participate in a sports festival organised and hosted by Bulwell Academy. The children compete in a variety of sports and physical activities against pupils from local schools.
